About
6+ years of experience working in academic and public library settings, plus 2 years at a library vendor (ProQuest) and 2 years as a writing instructor collaborating directly with a university library. Currently working as a Programming and Outreach Librarian at Bemis Library in Littleton, CO. I earned an MLIS from Louisiana State University (2001) and a Master of Arts in English with a Teaching Writing Certificate from Indiana University (2011). I'm also a 2022 graduate of the Denver Streets Partnership's Advocacy Academy certificate program.
I have been a member of the (Denver) Mayor’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee since 2022. In that role, I have collaborated with Denver City Council, co-written recommendation and advisory letters, and recruited and trained new members. As Vice Chair, I proactively led our efforts during a Mayoral transition. I have regularly served as a trainer and poll supervisor for Denver Elections since 2020. I have taught and coached university writing students and was elected president of the ALA New Members Round Table. I used that role to facilitate the establishment of a scholarly journal that magnifies the voices of staff new to the profession, all while planning and speaking at conference events, mentoring new chairs, and administrating Board meetings during my three-year tenure. My teaching style is process-based and person-centric, and I have experience and training in storytimes, arts programming for all ages, and 50+ programming.
