Xochil Arellano, EDI Manager at Poudre Libraries in Fort Collins, Colorado, brings a decade of diverse library experience and a passion for community building to her work. Over her 10-year career at Poudre Libraries, she has progressed through various roles—from Material Handler to Assistant Circulation Supervisor, Library Assistant and Scheduler, Circulation Supervisor, and now EDI Manager. This journey through different organizational levels provides her with unique insight into staff experiences across all library functions.
With a degree in psychology and as a mother of four adult children, she spent several years volunteering in school libraries, deepening her understanding of libraries as community anchors. She believes in uplifting people and showing care and kindness in all her work, guided by the conviction that everyone has the power to make positive changes. Her approach to EDI work centers on connecting with all staff levels and building meaningful community partnerships. She finds joy in learning about others and herself each day, bringing this curiosity and growth mindset to her role in fostering inclusive library environments.
